Blue Knob All Seasons Resort: Claysburgh, PA

The last two n’ a half miles of the two n’ a half hour trip was straight up da mountain, luv dat. We was high atop da hill. The banquet room we set up in was just the right place to be throwin dis bash. After a real decent meal, we tuned up and strapped it on. I saw an ole buddy, Jay Randell. Jay is a bass player who spent a few years playing with Vinny and the Wise Guys, out here in the middle of the state until Vinny passed on just last year. I also saw some friends & relatives of my ole & dear friend Nason Gieg. Right before I counted off “Lazy Bones” I thought about how cool it was to still be playin after all these years. I’m one lucky greezeball. “Rebel Rouser”, “Rock n’ Roll City”, “Minimum Wage”, Stutso sang “Three Times Your Fool” and da room started to warm up. So I figured it was time to get ‘em out on da dance floor. “Ring Of Fire”, “Honkey Tonk Women”, “Slow Down”……after a short break we came back n’ kept da party rollin with some blue renderings of “Bow Legged Woman” n’ “Mercy Mercy” at twelve o’clock we did “Auld Lang Syne” n’ I got a warm feelin in my gut…………..HAPPY NEW YEAR

Bocktown Tavern: Pittsburgh, PA

Shari Richards, Harry Bottoms and myself stood on the tiny stage and did what we could with what we had and this turned out to be a cool show. Set one opened up with “Look What You Done” n’ dat set da pace for a bluesy buncha tunes. Christmas tunes was on the list so we did ”White Christmas”, “Merry Christmas Baby” and “Felice Nava Da” which was my fav of da night. I really enjoyed listening to Shari sing the tunes that I’ve written, “You Go Your Way”, “Three Times Your Fool”, “The Blues Come Blowin In”, “Minimum Wage”, “New Blood”, “Rich Kid”…… she was bringin it strong. I sang a few “Comin Home”, “Sick n’ Tired”, “Shit House Rat”, “Over Said And Done”. One of the girls that works at the bar, Tara, got up and sang an improve blues that was very powerful. Katey Simone jumped and sang “Dead Flowers” and she sounded like she’s been workin at it. We played for a buncha folks dat never seen us before, I really enjoy that.

Mountain State Brewery: Thomas WV

Harry and I drove down to the mountain a day early, because snowfall was a comin. We watched a couple feet of the white stuff fall from the WV sky. Local boy Jared, was our drummer for the evening and as he’s done before, did a fine job. We did one cover tune after another and had a good time doin it. “Ring Of Fire”, “Mercy Mercy”, “She Thinks I Still Care”, “It’s Only Make Believe”………the moonshine dat da locals was slingin was high level shtuff……..n’ da homegrown……..come on man…….for some reason Harry and Jared left the stage, so I played a new tune that I wrote in November for the first time “I’m Gonna Love Me Somebody Tonight”. We got a ton of requests for “Smoke Two Joints” so we slapped it stupid. It’s always a pleasure, just to be on a mountain in west by god, n’ it’s an honor, to play music for da fine people dat live on dat mountain in west by god Virginia……………….
